At least, that's my justification for pickling jalapeno and habanero peppers. I've canned 10 jars of pickles, 7 jars of jalapenos, 2 jars of habaneros and 6 jars of salsa. Tonight, I will be stringing chiles to dry. Yes, I know. I'm crazy. I've done a lot of canning this summer, and I think my small family and I are set for the upcoming nuclear winter. I've also frozen zucchini, and beans, and carrots. I've got pumpkins, and onions and potatoes potatoes.

I had a pretty amazing summer, and since school has started, I realized how sad I was to see it go. I spent lots of time with boyfriend, especially since he visited for a whole month! I got to do lots and lots of riding, and playing outside. I threw him a birthday party (that I think he liked) and made a damn good chocolate mousse cake. I also made some really good bread. Since school has started back up, I'm exhausted. I guess being emotionally drained doesn't help either. Our first football game is Saturday. I'm slightly worried, but I'm sure we'll do okay. I have more kids in band this year. Close to 55! I've expanded my little family!
Meet Izzy: a German Shepherd/Doberman mix. She's a... joy. *cough* A chewing, peeing, whining joy. But I love her.

And meet Maisy Mae. She's a horse. (Duh.) She has never been ridden, never been saddled, and has never seen another horse. I got on her, she didn't seem to mind. I took her out of her pen today, and walked her down the road. She was a little skittish, but not too terribly. She is crazy smart. She comes when I whistle, and nickers at me and when I leave, she follows me as far as she can and neighs at me.

She's so pretty! I've got quite the little family. :)
Boyfriend sent me a pretty amazing box yesterday. It almost made me cry. Benadryl, and Post-It notes, and Kool-Aid, and a new letter writing pen, and our adventure book, and FABRIC WITH PAISLEYS and candy and sardines and cocoa puffs and flower petals and a red rose. It was amazing. He is amazing.
