Word of the day: nice

Organizing my craft crap. It's taking over. I'm afraid it will become animate and kill me in my sleep.

Writing lesson plans and getting ready for Monday. I am not good at leaving work at work. It's hard when students call me NEARLY EVERY DAY for something. It's not that I don't enjoy the fact that they feel comfortable enough to do so. But last night, I got a call from a younger kid who's parents are gone every night at work and just leave him there. His friends were going to the movies and no one would pick him up. He asked if I was going and if I was, could I give him a ride. My heart almost broke. He spends way too much time alone. He has been coming into school early (7 am) and staying until I leave, which sometimes isn't until 6:30. He plays his instrument or helps me with whatever I need help with. Today, a student called to ask if I could help her with the saxophone she just got. Um. It's Saturday. I want to spend it doing un-school like activities.

Cleaning. Yeah. No.

I went to the mart of walls today. Yeah... I am still amazed by the amount of people who seriously wear cowboy gear. Hats, boots, the whole thing. I saw a truck with a lariat hanging off the side mirror. A lariat! Stood in line behind some really tall guy with a really tall hat and some nice jeans. Really nice jeans. He was pretty nice all around. On my way home, I saw some shooting stars. Made some nice wishes. I am still amazed by how many stars you can see out here. Every single one! I could see all the towns too, because it was dark enough to see the lights. I could see home from 30 miles away, and I could even see Johnson City, Kansas. I love it.
