This morning made me want to run screaming from the school. It was so bad, my drum major wanted to give up. He asked me today if we absolutely had to go to regionals because he didn't want to go and make fools of ourselves. I try to keep what happens in marching band in marching band, and not let the mood that overcomes me during first period spill over into the rest of my day. Especially because my 5th graders are doing wonderfully, and so are my 6th graders. My kindergarten class is reading dotted eight sixteenth rhythms and some really complex stuff. All of my elementary classes are doing really,really well.

Today, that was hard to do. It stayed with me all day. Especially because this week is homecoming week. Yesterday we had our inservice. I believe whole heartedly that inservices can be good things. This one, however.... Ack.

Highlights from this inservice:
1. This county is a hotbed of UFO activity. Add that to the meth capital of Co, and "if you knew what went by on that highway out there" and the Mexican national freakazoids in the canyons. Sweetness. Not only do I need to watch out for human traffickers, getting shot while in the canyon, and what my neighbors throw out so I can watch for meth lab activites, but I have to watch out for anal probing and animal mutilations. Joy.

2. I am a blue personality type, followed by green. 3 of my colleagues are also blue, and another 2 are green. 95% of them have yellow personality types. We all hate keyboard heros, and enjoy outside activities. Things that make us happy are sleep, food, chocolate, pepsi and naps.

3. We spend a lot of money on standardized tests, which really don't accomplish much but deplete the school budget. This enrages me.

My neighbor is really getting to me, and not in a good way. Today, he decided that since I refused to answer my front door he would walk to the back of my house (he was on his side of the fence) and yell at me through my open window. My shades were drawn. "Lesley!!! Answer your door!!!"
