Collector of sunsets

Today my co-pilot and I decided on my way home from Lamar to stop at The Mountain. This is what the locals call this. It looks like this:


Ooooh.

I got closer....


I thought that I would be able to hike up it and it would be cool.

No. There are COWS on it. So I kept on driving.

I found my house:


Discovered some stalkers:


I went down a little tiny road and found this:



It was so pretty. I drove down another road and had to get out and walk. I miss my truck. My car can't get into some of these places.
Two roads diverged in the Colorado back country and sorry I could not travel both, took the one to the right.


I should have gone left.


There was some kind of shack by the lake, an old adobe thing or whatever.




And Kostya and I saw lots of sweet things.



I don't know where these came from, but it was way cool.

I didn't get pictures of it, but we saw coyote tracks, and what I assume were bobcat tracks too. There were some little lizard things Kostya wanted to eat, but were too fast for him, some horned toad things and....

A tarantula. This sucker was huge. It was ugly.
And my dog was afraid of it.
I tried really hard to stay on the road because I knew if we stepped onto the brush there would be snakes and stuff we couldn't see. My idiot dog jumped onto a yucca plant. I don't think he will be doing that again. I am also constantly amazed at how beautiful the sun sets are here, but also pissed off that I can never seem to get them on camera like they are when I see them.


It was so pretty. The rain was making it all hazy and it really just makes me mad that I can't get it right. Oh well.

Today was the first day the choir sung in church. They sounded really well. I'm playing organ next Sunday. Everyone seems really happy that the choir is going again. Hurray!
