So, I need more Saturdays and less of every other day in the week. Really. I woke up, went adventuring (my camera died, so I have no pictures THIS time...) and then came home and PAINTED. That's right. I picked up my brushes and set to work on a painting for my sister and Vic, and got the background all painted in. I set it up on a chair in the living room as a temporary place to dry.
And then, I hear the unmistakable sound of a dog licking something.
My dog licked half of the canvas clean. Half 3' x 2' canvas. I do not understand how it could smell good to his little doggie nose, let alone taste good. I mean, I love the smell of oil paints, but that is for nostalgic reasons, not that I actually like the smell enough to eat it. My paint had extra linseed oil and turpenoid in it, so it was extra icky. I was mad. After smacking him on the nose, I went and got the hydrogen peroxide out of the bathroom and poured some down his throat outside. He foamed at the mouth and proceeded to vomit up lots of pretty colors. I highly doubt he will be doing that again.
I worked on my 'penguin painting' the one that is based on Robert Frost's poem Fire and Ice. I'm fixing some stuff with the background and just going to take my time with it. I'm excited to be painting again. I also started knitting a scarf tonight, mostly to work on my garter stitch, which is starting to even out and look less like a five year old did it.
Last week was way hectic and stressful. I was called the meanest teacher in the school, to which my reply was "Well, I guess I have a reputation to uphold now, don't I?" and was mouthed off to by one of my percussionists, who came into the band room swearing and telling everyone what a jerk his dad was for 'getting on his case about work and grades' and so he punched him in the face. I told him he owed me pushups, to which he replied 'I don't owe you anything. My hand is broken.' and I said it was pushups or a paper, and he told me I would get them when he was ready to do them. I gave him a referral. What is it with kids who feel so entitled to everything? They don't want to put in the work to get to where they could be easily. Its infuriating.
On that note, unless we raise $500 we will not be able to go to a competition other than state. This is because we can't afford it. When I told the kids this, their reply was "Why can't the school just pay for it?" Why should the school have to spend $300 on an entry fee and another $300 for gas/bus to GET THERE AND BACK when that money needs to be spent on new computers for the library? You tell me. They've had their fundraiser packets for 1.5 weeks now and we have.....
$62.
It makes me sick.
