two dog night

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

Because I only have two dogs, otherwise, it very well could be three. It is chilly outside. My house has not so amazing insulation. I put plastic on the windows, which helps a little.

I made my turkey today. All for me. It was delicious. I stuffed it with stuffing, and made mashed potatoes, and green beans, and mmmm. I promptly fell into a food coma. I was worried I'd screw it up, but then realized that even if I did, I had another one in the freezer. I took pictures, but I'll have to put them up later.

I am thankful for many things, and they're things I'm thankful for every day, not just on Thanksgiving. I am thankful to have a career I love, for the kids at school who reinforce that yes, what I'm doing is WORTH it, and I'm making a small dent in some of their lives. I'm thankful for all of my pets who have all been rescued in some way or another and constantly keep me entertained and loved. They rescue me every day I feel like things can't get any worse. I'm thankful that even though I choose to be alone on Thanksgiving, I don't have to be. I have friends, all of whom are amazing, wonderful people. I'm thankful for my very large and extended family, with my many sets of "parents", be they biological or not.

I am excited for Christmas. My house is all decked out, and I love it. Shiny lights and sparkly garland. Ornaments on my tree. Pine cones that smell like cinnamon candies. I love it. The other day we decorated the church, and someone said to me that if they could, they would get married around Christmas time, because the decorations are so pretty and they make everyone so happy. I agreed. I'm also excited for everyone's presents. I've been crafting my ass off. I love making things with a specific person in mind. I'm even going to use lots of my yarn stash, so maybe it won't kill anyone any time soon.
