So, Ms. Humble has shown me once again another thing that I must make: dulce de leche via boiling a can of condensed milk on the stove or in a crock pot. You just need to keep the water level above the cans, so they don't explode. Amazing, yes? I will be making this. Probably often. I pretty much stalk her blog and am amazed at the things she makes.

Hopefully (however, we need to consider the kind of luck I have) it doesn't explode, as the cans are under pressure. We'll see.

I had a great weekend. I felt like an adult! It was nice to spend so much time around other musicians. The symphony played The Bartered Bride, some dances from Evgeny Onegin (one of my favorites) and all of Beethoven's Seventh. I will leave out the part about how great the principal cellist was. The Broadmoor was absolutely amazing. The nicest place I've ever been. It was a huge complex with a lake in the middle and at night the trees were a lit up with lights and the snow made it so pretty, and the mountains were RIGHT THERE. I got to meet some great people and see some wonderful performances. I learned a lot. Very worth it. While there, I realized how much I miss being me. I don't get to act like myself much, I have to be calm, and collected, and organized and professional. All the time. I rarely get the chance to stop worrying about much, which is why I loved our Friday night concert. The Jakarta band was a lot of fun! I will have to see them again. I liked them almost as much as Minus Six. There was definitely singing and dancing. Watching one of my colleagues try to mimic Lil' Jon was hilarious.

While I learned a lot, and had my interest in learning theories piqued, I realized that no matter how much I love teaching (and I do, I really do) I want to play my horn more. I play after school, as much as I can. I play during seminar, and during my plan period when I should be doing other things. I transpose like a crazy person, I never transposed this well in college. What? Up a fourth? No problem. Bass clef up a second? Yep. All over it. I miss playing Charlier, of anything, and am trying to continue to tackle the ....

while doing some google searching, I found transcribed Bach cello suites for trumpet. I can die happy.
