No time

I have no time, and lots of stress. It would be really, really great to not worry about anyone for an entire weekend, to do something that I enjoy like oh, painting, or maybe some drawing. Absolutely no work, and no children.

Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be the case. Yesterday, I very unhappily played repo man with a kid's horn with our music rep. The principal came to warn me, and I did everything with his approval. I am not happy with the company we currently work for, and this just seals the deal for me. This kid has been a handful, but signed up for solo and ensemble festival. They've been trying and improving and seeing them cry because their instrument had to be returned for failure to pay the rental fees breaks my heart. It's not the kids' fault. No kid should have to deal with that. I also sat with the fourth graders at lunch. Yep. The problem class. I sat next to the biggest trouble maker, and actually found out some things that I had no clue about. He pretty much comes from the same family background that I did when I was his age, except he isn't handling it very well. He told me that he wants to be some kind of scientist when he grows up (the kid is very, very intelligent. He picks up things quicker than anyone else does.) and has been saving all of the money he gets in birthday cards, for Christmas, from Grandma and Grandpa, etc. and has almost a thousand dollars in an account. He said it's for college, and that he would have more in it if his mom would quit taking money out of it. The kid might as well have been telling me what I went through at his age. It's awful.

We had a meeting today about budget stuff. They're kind of sort of tossing around the idea of a four day week as a back up plan, but told us to start planning on cutting back. As long as I have a job, I can find ways to cut back in the classroom. Just don't cut back on my salary.

I've been playing Bach cello suites on my trumpet. They hurt, and they are so hard to make sound pretty because of all those nasty leaps that strings don't have to worry about. I've been having fun with it though. I've played through all of the first suite and half of the second. That's about all I can manage to get in for 'me' time, and I'll have to live with it. It is a good way to let off some stress and frustration. Tomorrow my landlord is coming to "see how things are" aka make sure I'm not hosting raves in the back room or something. He told me it was okay to paint, I guess we'll see what he thinks of teal. :P
