I had a really good day today. I couldn't decide if I wanted to go to Pueblo or go outside and do something, and I figured it was too nice outside to spend it in the car for 6 hours, so I opted for 45 minutes in the car to get to Carrizo canyon. I also let Kostya do this pretty great running thing. I kick him out of the car and he runs. He stops, and I let him back in. He doesn't even run away, he just follows the car. It's a pretty country thing to do. We used to do it when I was a kid.

I need a truck. Next time, road 8, I will have a truck and you will not thwart me. I'll borrow the truck from the ranch, and I will go wherever I please. My little car can't make it down some of those rutted, rocky roads. It was a gorgeous day, and that canyon is really pretty. The water was pretty clear, and Kostya decided to swim. He also decided to walk through a cactus patch, and a sand burr patch, and then roll around in some mud. I spent a lot of time yanking cactus needles out of his paws. I forgot to put his boots on him. Never again.

I really wanted to climb around on the rocks and explore more than I did. But I didn't want to chance a fall and breaking a leg. I know that even if you don't have cell phone reception, you can call 911, but just the thought of breaking something if I fell and being alone didn't appeal to me. I also want to go camping there. There is no campground, but like I care. It would be so much fun to backpack in there in the summer and just stay for a few days. You can see all the stars at night and I think it would be a blast. We'll see. Sometimes it really blows being alone all the time.
